How to clean a glass pipe using rubbing alcohol
Clean a steamroller pipe
If you are a steamroller glass pipe lover you will certainly find yourself at a point where you are wondering how to clean a glass pipe
The best way to start cleaning the pipe is to remove any loose remaining particles from the pipe by turning the pipe and gently tapping.
When you are done use a cotton swab, pipe cleaner or similar mechanical tool to remove larger bits you can easily reach without risking to damage the pipe. Go easy, you are just helping alcohol to clean the rest of the pipe faster.
Fill a small plastic kitchen bag with 90% isopropyl (rubbing alcohol), place the pipe in the bag in the way that its fully submerged in alcohol.
Add 1 large tablespoon of kitchen salt in the plastic bag. Salt will scrub away the resin from hard reachable places and its better to use large grains salt.
Shake the bag for 1-2 minutes using your fingers to close of the openings on the pipe.
Your goal is to work the salt into the pipe and to get rid of as much resin as possible.
To clean very dirty glass pipe, soak the pipe for several hours or overnight and repeat the cleaning.
Add a splash of fresh isopropyl and salt especially if you are using 71% alcohol and its more likely that your salt may have dissolved and you could be missing some.
Rinse out all the alcohol and salt from the pipe with hot water and discard the rest down the toilet as it could stink up your kitchen sink.
Clean out any remaining spots with cotton swabs or a pipe cleaner. Use some clean alcohol to get rid of any remaining stains. To remove non-resin stains or watermarks soak your pipe in warm water mixed with fresh lemon juice for 10-15 minutes
